FUNDING PROGRAMMES

SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways (SGUP)

Get 70% funding support on your trainee’s monthly allowance, for 4-6 months, to train and assess mature mid-career individuals for your roles.

What is SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways (SGUP)?

SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways (SGUP) is a traineeship programme designed to help mature mid-career individuals (age 40 and above) acquire industry-relevant skills and experience.

If you find your trainee’s performance satisfactory, you can convert them into full-time employment with your company. This helps you to assess, train and test out working with potential new hires before making a formal employment offer.

Who is it for?

Singaporean and PR trainees age 40 and above.

SGUP is a traineeship, where the trainee does not have a formal employer-employee relationship with the company, and does not receive CPF contributions.

Trainees should not be shareholders, related to the shareholders, immediate ex-staff, existing employees, or individuals who were already offered an employment contract with the company.

What is the funding amount?

Eligible companies can receive funding support of 70% of the monthly training allowance per trainee. The monthly training allowance ranges between $1,800 to $3,800 per month, depending on the scope of the attachment.

Illustrative example for one trainee:

  • Approved monthly training allowance: $3,800
  • Approved training period: 6 months
  • Funding rate: 70% of monthly training allowance
  • Total funding amount: $3,800 * 70% * 6 months = $15,960

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How many trainees can I apply for under SGUP?
This depends on your company and the number of full-time staff that you have. To find out more, book a discovery session with our team so we can do a personalised assessment.
What happens if my trainee resigns before the end of the SGUP traineeship?
The good news is that you can still receive the funding up until the last day of your trainee’s traineeship with your company!
Can I convert my trainee to a full-time employee before the end of the SGUP traineeship?
Yes, you can convert your trainee to a full-time employee at any point in time during the traineeship, and you will still be able to receive the funding for the full duration that was initial approved.

For example:
  • You were approved for a 6 month traineeship.
  • You convert your trainee to a full-time employee after the end of the first month.
  • You will still receive the approved funding until the end of 6 months 👍
The application and approval process typically takes 4-6 weeks. As such, we strongly recommend that you commence the application process ASAP after your new hire’s first day with the company, or within the first 6 weeks from your new hire’s start date.
